Jesus' Antichrist

What did Jesus mean when he said, 'beware the antichrist.' If we are not to
fear anyone, and power comes from God, who is he refering to? I mean, in
the first part of the 'beware the antichrist' message, he was telling us to
not fear those that can cause physical harm. Was Jesus speaking of his
antithesis? Jesus can't mean revelation's dragon controller, or the six
hundred, three score, and six beast (DCLXVI) because we all know he is a
trickster that harms bodies, and will lead to the infliction of a huge
amount of pain. Have comments combining this message with others been
misguided?

The antichrist is not one person, nor is it one that stands as a polar
opposite of Christ, but an institution that would stand as a replacement
of Christ.

I would encourage you to read Rev. 17, as many would point to this
passage (as well as one in Daniel, but I can't remember which one) as a
description of the Antichrist.

"And there came on of the seven angels which had the sever vials, and
talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither, I will shew unto thee the
judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom
the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants
of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication...and
I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed
in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones
and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and the
filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name
written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood
of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus, and when I
saw her, I wondered with gread admiration..." (Revelation 17:1-6, KJV).

The angel later goes on to explain the symbolism behind this image.

"And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven
mountains, on which the woman sitteth...And the ten horns which thou
sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet, but receive
power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall
give their power and strenght unto the beast. These shall make war with
the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is the Lord of lords,
and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen,
and faithfull. And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest,
where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and
tongues. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these
shall hate the whore, and shalkl make her desolate and nakes, and shall
eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts
to fifil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast,
until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman which thou
sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."
(Revelation 17:9-18, KJV).

Now, for those of you that aren't familiar with the Geography of Europe
(and I'll admit that I myself have little knowledge of it), the city of
Rome in Italy sits on seven hills, and there were 10 Kings that took
over the Western part of the Roman Empire, with their authority given to
them by the church.

This should be enough to start to understand the nature of the
antichrist, and the horrifying reality that we live in today. If you
decide to continue to research this, you'll find volumes of information
implicating one particular institution of being the antichrist: in the
antichrist's acts that have acted contradictory to the Word, as well as
in the very similarities that this institution would bare to the harlot
that rides on this seven-headed beast, in the abominations that this
institution has done in the name of Christ, and finally in the
grandiosity that this institution proudly presents as a stark contrast
to the very humble savior that it states to serve.

When you come to this realization, however, I ask that you please
remember that it is this institution that I'm hinting at, and not the
people that blindly follow it, that is the antichrist.

With that said, I'm sure when I get to Heaven, I will see both many
Catholics and many Protestants. And I ask that Our Lord may keep us
all, and open up our eyes and ears, that we may hear and see.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

A'men.

I've read Revelations extensively, to tell you the truth, and I still do not
believe that Jesus Christ was speaking of the "antichrist" discussed in
Revelations because God would not give "him" power, in whatever way you deem
the him to come to fruition, to damn the soul of the saints. This is
especially so when Jesus Christ told us not to fear those that can harm the
body, and Revelations also tells us to "endure until the end."

I also am somewhat familiar with the various theories that have been
espoused concerning where this antichrist will come from. One that I have
considered is the history of the state system today. Three major states
have come from the United Kingdom, and one of which has created ten more
states. Of course, the prior definitions are erroneous because it is not
until recently in history that one person could speak to all persons in the
world. You can't control the world without being in contact with the whole
world.

Just an idea.

Hello,

I cannot find any words quoted by Jesus, where he refers to an
"antichrist". From what verse are you referring to above?

Sincerely, James
